Veterans Moving America

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our moving services, pricing, and operations. At Veterans Moving America, we use high-quality equipment and air-ride suspension trucks to move your possessions safely and smoothly.

What will my move cost me?

Local moves are charged by the hour, and long-distance moves are charged by hourly rate and distance. Our moving professionals will take you through the process, provide you with a competitive estimate, and our veteran movers will complete your mission quickly, safely, and affordably.

How can I keep the cost down?

With local moves (charged by the hour), anything that you do, we don't have to, and you save money. We are happy to perform everything on the following list, but if you are willing:

  • Be completely packed before we get there.
  • Take apart your stereo and computer and pack them in boxes.
  • Take apart your bed frame.
  • Move boxes near the door.
  • Unload and unpack your refrigerator/freezer 24 hours prior to your move date.
  • Defrost your washer and dryer.
Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Veterans Moving America is fully licensed and insured. Below are our permits and license numbers:

US DOT 2377364

TxDMV 006733716C

Where do you operate?

We provide our Helping Hands, Professional Packing, and Full-Service Local services to anyone living within the Greater DFW area. We provide our Full-Service Statewide services to anyone within the state of Texas moving to or from the DFW area. More questions about a move? Give us a call.

What about tipping?

It is customary to tip movers, but it is completely up to you. If you feel the crews worked hard and took care of you, then it is much appreciated. A typical tipping ratio is 15–20% of the total move cost, but whatever you feel is appropriate.

Is there anything that VMA does not move?

We move most things, but there are certain things that we cannot move for the safety of our crew, but also for the safety of your belongings:

  • Ammunition or loaded weapons
  • Gas containers
  • Propane tanks
  • Yard equipment containing fuel or oil
  • Paint, paint thinner, etc.
  • Automotive batteries
  • Pressurized liquids
  • Pets
  • Personal vehicles/scooters
  • Gun safes weighing more than 750 lbs.
How big are VMA's trucks?

All of our trucks used for Full-Service moves are 26-foot straight-trucks called Isuboxes. Our Helping Hands service does not include a truck for client use. We will always bring enough manpower and position the truck as close to your front door as possible.

Can we make multiple stops?

Yes, if you'd like to stop at a storage unit or drop off a couch at a friend's, we're happy to oblige. However, keep in mind that extra stops will add additional time to your move.

Can I leave items in dresser drawers?

We ask that you please empty all items from dresser drawers. This is not only for the safety of our crew, but also for the safety of your belongings.

Do you sell boxes?

Yes! If you are interested in purchasing boxes from VMA or our professional packing service let us know and we will provide you with an estimate.

What items are out of scope?

We are willing to move most items for you. However, we can provide reasonable accommodations for items such as:

  • Guns and safes
  • Heavy furniture
  • Plants and artwork
Can the movers call me prior to arrival?

Yes. The office or crew will call when they leave our office in Fort Worth to give you an estimated ETA.

Are there hidden costs?

No. All costs and estimated quotes will be given to you prior to the mission date. We understand that pricing affects and estimations don't tell the whole story of their move as long as no other discounts or reductions have been applied. Sometimes deals, coupons, or discounts can be found on sites like Yelp and Angie's List.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes! Returning clients and veterans get a discount off the total of their move as long as no other discounts or reductions have been applied. Sometimes deals, coupons, or discounts can be found on sites like Yelp and Angie's List.
